At our specialized studio in Salzburg, we create the acoustic and psychological environment where your performance can reach its full potential. We combine technical excellence with an empathetic production approach to ensure every nuance is captured.

An excellent vocal track is far more than the sum of an expensive microphone and a quiet room. It requires precise control of dynamics, the correct choice of the signal chain, and an engineer's ability to guide the artist toward a convincing performance. At Barecatyra, we prioritize an atmosphere that enables both technical perfection and creative freedom.

Whether you need a single lead vocal for a pop production, complex background harmonies for an album, or a precise voice-over for a commercial project, we provide the necessary infrastructure. Our acoustically optimized vocal booth eliminates distracting reflections, ensuring a dry, defined sound that offers maximum flexibility during the subsequent mixing phase.

Who is this service for?

Our vocal recording services are designed for a wide spectrum of artists. Solo singers and bands looking to elevate their productions to a professional level will find the space for their vision here. We also support songwriters who require high-quality demo recordings to present their works to labels or collaborators. Additionally, podcasters seeking exceptionally clean speech quality or voice-over artists for commercial projects are well-supported in our Salzburg studio environment.

We work with both seasoned professionals and newcomers who appreciate a structured guide through the recording process. Because we are located in the Altstadt of Salzburg, we offer a central hub for local talent and international projects that value a controlled acoustic environment and a methodical approach to audio capture.

How the studio workflow operates

From the moment you enter the studio, we take over the technical organization so you can focus entirely on your performance. Our engineer manages the recording from the control room and provides precise feedback via the talkback system. We employ a methodical approach: we first solidify the core structures before moving on to details, ad-libs, or complex harmonic layers.

The focus is on efficient communication. We analyze together which nuances in the voice carry the song and implement them purposefully. We adhere strictly to the schedule to maintain a productive flow without sacrificing the artistic quality of the recording. Through the physical separation of the vocal booth and the control room, we create a professional distance that allows the artist to concentrate fully on the delivery.

What you should prepare for the session

To use the studio time efficiently, we recommend thorough preparation. Please bring your instrumental track (beat) as a high-quality WAV file. It is helpful to have a precise list of the parts to be recorded (e.g., Verse 1, Chorus, Bridge). Proper physical preparation of the voice—hydration and a warm-up—is essential for a consistent result over several hours.

We also recommend reading our detailed guide on preparing for your recording to avoid common technical pitfalls and maximize the time spent in the studio. The better the preparation of lyrics and melodies, the more room remains for artistic expression during the session.

The Result: What you receive

Upon completion of the session, you receive the recordings in a professional format. We deliver "dry" vocals—recordings without effects such as reverb or delay—so that they fit perfectly into any arrangement during the mixing phase. You will receive the files as high-quality WAV exports (Standard 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz, 24-bit), ensuring lossless further processing.

Depending on the agreement, we provide either the individual takes or already assembled "comp-tracks." All data is transmitted digitally via a secure transfer service. These raw files are the foundation for a clean mix and provide the mixing engineer with maximum control over the dynamics and tonal character of the voice.

Timeframes and Scheduling

The duration of a vocal recording varies greatly depending on the complexity of the song. A simple lead vocal track can often be realized in one to two hours, while elaborate arrangements with many background layers may require a full day rate. We schedule buffer times to avoid stress and ensure a relaxed working atmosphere.

Please note that appointments are binding. According to our Terms, free cancellation is possible up to 7 days before the scheduled appointment. For short-term changes, we will work with you to find a solution that optimizes the studio's capacity.

What is NOT included in Vocal Recording

Please be aware that a pure recording session does not include final post-production. This means that tuning (e.g., Melodyne), time corrections, compression, or mixing the vocals into the song are not part of this specific service. These steps are handled within our Mixing & Mastering service.

Similarly, the creation of songwriting ideas or musical compositions is not included in the studio time for recording. Our focus during this session is on the technical and artistic fixation of your performance on the medium. Should you require assistance with the arrangement, please discuss this with our production team in advance.
