Mixing & Mastering: The Final Polish for Your Sound

A great recording is only half the battle. In mixing and mastering, we transform individual tracks into a coherent, powerful piece of music that sounds professional on every system—from a smartphone to a club PA. We create space, depth, and the necessary emotional dynamics to precisely translate your artistic vision into sound.

The journey from raw material to a finished master is a process of reduction and accentuation. Many musicians face the challenge that their recordings are technically correct but lack the "wall of sound" or the commercial density required for modern distribution. This is where we step in. We analyze the frequency distribution of your track and ensure that every instrument occupies its own place in the stereo field without masking others.

In our Salzburg studio, we utilize a combination of precise digital processing and acoustically optimized monitoring environments. Our approach is not merely about technical corrections, but about the dramaturgical guidance of the listener through the song. Whether it is the crisp presence of the vocals or the punchy foundation of the bass, we optimize the balance so that the energy of your song is fully realized.

The Process: Four Steps to Your Master

01
Analysis & Organization: We review your stems, check the levels, and create a structured session. In this phase, we clarify reference tracks to establish the desired sonic aesthetic.
02
Static Mix & Balance: Leveling, panning, and fundamental EQ corrections. We build the foundation by removing clashing frequencies and prioritizing the most important elements.
03
Dynamics & Color: Implementation of compression, saturation, and spatial effects. Here we add depth, width, and the characteristic "glue" that fuses individual tracks into a single entity.
04
Final Mastering: The last optimization of overall loudness (LUFS) and tonal fine-tuning for various playback formats, followed by the creation of final master files.

Who Is This Service For?

Our mixing and mastering service is designed for a wide range of artists and producers. In particular, we support solo artists who want to hear their vocals in a professional context, as well as bands whose multitrack recordings require a consistent sonic integration. Home studio producers who write excellent arrangements but lack an acoustically treated environment for the final mix are also in the right place.

Additionally, we collaborate with small production companies and agencies in Salzburg and the surrounding region that require high-quality audio assets for commercial projects, where sonic consistency across different episodes or tracks is critical.

How the Collaboration Works

The collaboration begins with a detailed briefing. You send us your recordings digitally. We strongly recommend that you include a rough demo version (Roughmix) alongside the tracks so we can understand the balance you are aiming for. After the first mixing phase, you will receive a version for review.

According to our business rules, up to 3 revision rounds are included in the price. This allows us to make the finest adjustments based on your feedback until the result meets your expectations. Only after the mix is approved do we proceed to the final mastering, where maximum loudness and tonal balance are optimized for the market.

What You Should Prepare for the Session

To ensure efficient processing and avoid unnecessary costs from technical corrections, we ask for adherence to certain standards. Tracks should be delivered "dry" (without reverb or delay), unless these effects are an integral part of the recording. Every track must be clearly named (e.g., "Kick_In", "Lead_Vocal_Main").

Consistency in sample rate and bit depth across all files is particularly important. For detailed technical requirements, please visit our guide on File Formats and Delivery. A structured file layout significantly accelerates the process and allows us more time for creative shaping.

The Result: What You Receive from Us

Upon completion of the project, we provide you with a package containing the final files. This typically includes the final stereo master in a high-resolution WAV format (e.g., 24-bit / 44.1kHz or 48kHz) as well as an optimized MP3 version for quick communication and distribution.

Upon request, we can also deliver "Stems" (grouped tracks such as drums, bass, vocals), which are essential for live performances or alternative remix versions. All files are transmitted securely via cloud storage, and we handle your data in accordance with our privacy policy.

Timeline and Delivery

The processing time depends heavily on the complexity of the arrangement. A standard track typically takes between 5 and 10 business days from data handover to the first mix draft. For more complex productions with a high number of tracks, this period may be extended.

We prioritize quality over speed. The time for revision rounds is factored into the planning, ensuring you do not have to make decisions under pressure. Exact deadlines are coordinated individually during the project request phase.

What Is Not Included in the Service

Please note that mixing and mastering are the processing of existing material. The re-recording of instruments or vocals, writing arrangements, or editing timing errors (e.g., extensive vocal tuning or drum quantization) are separate services. Should these become necessary during the mix, we will notify you and offer them as an additional service.

Additionally, legal advice regarding copyrights or the registration of works with collecting societies is not included. Information on the legal side can be found in our guide on Master Rights and Options.

Pricing and VAT

Our prices are based on the effort per track or the complexity of the production. The prices listed in the following table include the statutory VAT of 20%. For business customers (B2B), we state the net amount separately. Billing occurs after project completion or according to the agreed deposits, as defined in our Terms.

Service Price incl. VAT (20%) Price excl. VAT Unit

Frequently Asked Questions about Mixing

What is the difference between mixing and mastering?
Mixing is the process where individual tracks of a song (e.g., vocals, guitar, drums) are balanced to work together harmoniously. Mastering is the final step where the finished stereo mix is optimized for consistent loudness and tonal balance for release.
How many revision rounds are included?
Up to 3 revision rounds are included in the price for each track. We ask that you provide your feedback in a collected and precise manner so that we can implement changes efficiently.
Can you master tracks that have already been mixed?
Yes, we offer standalone mastering. In this case, we require the final stereo mix in high resolution. Please note that individual instruments cannot be changed during the mastering stage.
Which formats do you deliver?
By default, we deliver the master as a 24-bit WAV file for maximum quality and an MP3 file for quick distribution. Upon request, we can create specific formats for streaming platforms.
