A successful podcast is defined not only by compelling content but, more importantly, by consistent and pleasant audio quality. Listeners may forgive a narrative gap, but they rarely tolerate poor sound quality that causes auditory fatigue. In today's saturated media landscape, the first acoustic impression is critical for establishing credibility and maintaining the loyalty of your target audience.
Barecatyra offers a controlled, professional environment in the heart of Salzburg's Altstadt, allowing you to focus entirely on the conversation. We handle the entire technical complexity—from optimal microphone placement and signal gain management to the final polish. Whether you are producing corporate podcasts, expert interviews, or creative audio series, we ensure your voice sounds clear, present, and professional.
The Path to Your Finished Episode
We discuss the format and prepare the technical routing based on the number of speakers involved.
Capture in our acoustically optimized environment under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Editing out mistakes, removing distracting noises, and applying dynamic processing.
Exporting to the required delivery formats and handing over the final mastered audio files.
Who is our Podcast Service for?
Our studio solutions are designed for diverse clients who demand high quality for their audio presence. This includes entrepreneurs and freelancers who wish to share their expertise via an audio format without needing to master the complexities of sound engineering. We also support corporate marketing departments producing internal communications or external brand podcasts at a professional level.
Additionally, Barecatyra is the ideal destination for passionate content creators who have outgrown their home studios and require an environment free from background noise, such as street traffic or room reverb. When the goal is to host prominent guests in an inviting and technically flawless atmosphere, our Salzburg studio provides the perfect setting.
Detailed Workflow and Collaboration
The process begins with a detailed coordination regarding the number of participants and the desired length of the episode. In our control room, every signal is recorded on a separate track, giving us maximum flexibility during post-production. During the session, our technician continuously monitors levels to prevent clipping and ensure a balanced volume between speakers.
Following the recording, we enter the "Rough Cut" phase, where unnecessary pauses, filler words ("ums" and "ahs"), and verbal slips are removed. This is followed by mixing, where voices are processed using compression and equalization to sound full and present, regardless of the listener's device—be it headphones, car speakers, or a smartphone.
Preparing for Your Recording Session
To utilize studio time efficiently, we recommend thorough preparation. A detailed script or at least a structured list of talking points (bullet points) helps maintain the narrative thread and optimizes the recording duration. Please coordinate the exact time and location (Getreidegasse 142, Salzburg) with your guests in advance.
If you wish to use your own intro and outro music, please provide these files beforehand in a high-quality format (WAV or AIFF). The clearer the structure of your episode, the faster we can extract the core messages during editing while maintaining the natural dynamics of the conversation.
The Result: What You Receive
Upon completion of the production, you receive the final files digitally. By default, we deliver the finished master track as a high-resolution WAV file (for archiving and distribution) and an optimized MP3 version (for quick uploading). Upon request, we can export the file to meet the specific technical requirements of your hosting platform.
In addition to the finished episode, we provide the raw multitracks if you wish to archive them for future projects or alternative edits. All files are transmitted via a secure transfer method to ensure that quality is preserved without compression.
Timelines and Scheduling
The time required for recording depends on your script; generally, we plan approximately 1.5 to 2 hours of studio time for every hour of finished material. Post-production (editing and mastering) is typically completed within 5 to 10 business days after the recording, provided there are no complex revision requests.
We operate strictly by appointment. Please note that we respond to all inquiries within 24 hours. To secure your booking, a deposit of 30% is required, as outlined in our Terms.
Services Not Included in the Standard Package
Please be aware that our podcast production covers technical recording and processing. Editorial support—such as scriptwriting, topic research, or active moderation by an external host—is not part of this service. Similarly, marketing services, including the creation of cover art, writing episode descriptions, or uploading to platforms like Spotify or Apple Podcasts, are not included.
The provision of hardware for guests (other than the microphones and headphones available in the studio) and the organization of guest travel are the responsibility of the client.
